Norma Ann (Smith) Church

Norma Ann (Smith) Church, the "Queen Bee" herself, 90, most recently of Greenfield, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025 surrounded by family. Norma was born on February 8, 1935, in Wilbur, West Virginia, to parents Joseph and Nellie (Hughes) Smith. She married the love of her life, Bobby L. Church, on June 23, 1956.

Soon after Norma and Bobby wed, they started raising a family. They added four children to their nest. Norma devoted her life to caring for her family while also providing care for others as she operated an in-home daycare. Norma took great pride in supporting her husband's endeavors and providing a nurturing, loving home for her growing family. She was the matriarch that all looked up to.

Norma enjoyed gardening, crafting, and writing poetry. She loved to use her creative spirit to plan and host family gatherings. Her favorite outing was always a trip to the casino, where she was a lucky number 7 herself. She loved to collect ceramic dolls and all things bumble bees. She walked the mini marathon a couple of times, some with her grandchildren. Norma and Bobby resided on the East side of Indianapolis for over 65 years and cherished their friends and neighbors.

Norma is survived by her loving children, Robyn (Allen) Baker and Martha (Joe) Dale; and her treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately called her "Ninny", "Norny", or "Granny". Nine grandchildren: Joe, Jennifer, Misty, Allyson, Chelsea, Brooke, Sarah, Lindsey, and Travis, and 14 great-grands.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband and soulmate of 65 years; and her sons, Rusty and Ron Church.

Stillinger Family Funeral Home – Cumberland Chapel, is of assistance to the Church family during their loss of an amazing woman. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 12 PM, at New Palestine Cemetery.
