Ottis Grant Sexton, 75, Greenfield, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, as family stood by his side. Ottis was born into a large family of eight siblings on December 23, 1949, in Whitesburg, KY, to parents Lawrence and Loretta Sexton. He married the love of his life, Julie Dee Boots, on July 22, 1983.
Ottis was a quiet man. He preferred to stay close to home and enjoy the great outdoors. There, he hunted and fished. He also enjoyed working with his hands and tinkering alongside his cousins & brothers working on demolition derby cars. Ottis also had a love of helping others when in need. He dedicated nearly 30 years of his life working for Wallace Well Drilling in Greenfield as a heavy machine drill operator, only retiring when his first health issues arose in January 2010.
Ottis is survived by his loving wife Julie of 42 years; children, Michele Gwinn, Mathew Skot Sexton, and Mitchell Grant (Miranda) Sexton; grandchildren, Sydney Sexton and Makenna Hanson; great-grandson, Alex Lawson; siblings, Harold Sexton, Jeneva (William) Walters, Walter (Linda) Sexton, and Sheila Issacs; and many nieces and nephews.
Ottis was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lillian Lucas, Curtis Sexton, and Joyce Cassady; and nephew, John Sexton.
Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Greenfield, is assisting the family during their loss. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025 between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm at Apostolic Pentecostal Church, Fellowship Hall, 1202 East 5th Street, Greenfield, IN.
