Obituary

Philip A. Stone, 94, of New Palestine, Indiana, passed away on December 22, 2025…..just short of his 95th birthday.

Philip was born to Arthur and Muriel Stone and went on to live a full, spirited life defined by service, skill, and unmistakable character. He was born and raised in Indy during the Great Depression, grew up through WWII and served his country in the Korean War, before returning to Indiana, marrying his sweetheart and raising his family. He later moved and resided to New Palestine, Indiana where he lived for 50+ years.

As a hard-working mechanic and Parts Manager, Philip eventually retired but never stopped working with his hands. He loved to repair, tinker, build models, and his family knew there wasn’t any car issue they couldn’t show or explain and he correctly diagnose!

Growing up in the depression and during wars, he lived a very reminiscent modest and simple life. He was a true firecracker - said things exactly as he “saw it” and was known for his spunk and simple but direct point of view. He was loved and respected by those whom he met and appreciated his stories, his life experience and honesty. Above all, he loved family, his cherished “grandfurbabies,” and any stray animal or wild bird that crossed his path in need of food or shelter.

Philip was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sally Stone, with whom he will now be laid to rest with.

He is survived by three generations:

His children, Bradley Stone, Larry Stone, and Sandra Lauk,

His grandchildren: Brittany Skaggs, Dillon Stone, Kylee Bolin, Cheyenne Stone, Kameron Lauk, Korri Ashby, Madi Stone and Joel Bullock. And his great-grandchildren: Brayson, Kenley, Nathan, Hayden

Philip will be cremated and laid to rest beside his wife. A celebration of life will be held this spring, with details to be announced.

In honor of Philip’s deep love for animals, memorial contributions may be made by planting a tree (for animal shelter) or by feeding, rescuing, or taking in a homeless animal in need.

PHILIP STONE will be remembered for his service, his skill, his spunk and the “unmistakable spark” that made him who he was….. Please feel free to share your colorful “Phil memories” in the comments below for all to enjoy and reminisce together.
