Quentin Emerson Petry

Quentin Emerson Petry March 31, 1919 - July 7, 2012 Quentin Emerson Petry age 93 years, a resident of Greenfield passed away Saturday July 7, 2012 at Golden Living Center Brandywine, Greenfield. He was born March 31, 1919 in Lewisville, Ind. to the late Harvey & Ethel Zenobia (Wiker) Petry. He served his country in the US Army during World War II from 1942 to 1946, and retired from Smith Implements as a tractor mechanic. He was member of the Stringtown Church of The Nazarene where he served as a Sunday morning greeter, usher and on various committees. He enjoyed operating CB radios and especially loved his family and the time he spent with them. He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Howard) Petry of Greenfield whom he married on December 20, 1941, daughters, Karen (Robert) DeRenard of Fontana, Calif., Janis (Roy) Blessinger of Greenfield, Evelyn (Wayne) Sammons of Rushville, Elaine (Philip)Steele of McCordsville, sons, Dahl (Kay) Petry of Carthage, Lowell (Elizabeth) Petry of Smithfield, Virginia, brothers, Malcolm (Darlene) Petry of New Castle, Wilmer (Marie) Petry of Downey, Calif., 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 1 great great- granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Gary Petry, Harold Petry, grandson, Stephen Petry, sisters, Reba Wallace, Wilma Bray, Clementine Petry, Naoma Lyons, brothers, Verlin, Frederick, Hugh. Visitation will be Tuesday July 10, 2012 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday July 11, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Carthage Town Cemetery, Carthage. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Stringtown Nazarene Church, 52 N. 500 E., Greenfield, IN 46140 or the Stephen Petry Memorial Scholarship Fund for Special Ed Teachers, Rush County Community Foundation, 117 N.
