Randy William Rather

Randy William Rather, 66, of Greenfield, Indiana, passed away on October 4, 2026, at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born October 12, 1959, in Greenfield, Indiana, to the late Richard and Barbara (Showalter) Rather.

Randy served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during his military service. He worked as a machinist at Bastain Solutions, where he worked for 10 years before retiring in 2025. Randy spent much of his free time with his family and enjoyed fishing with his grandson. Unknown to Randy he will become a great-grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Terry (Wise) Rather, whom he married on May 21, 1988; his daughter, Chasity (Jason) Groce; brothers, Richard (Janet) and Rick (Shyla) Rather; sister, Kim (Mike) Raffaeli; grandson, Elijah Pennington; granddaughters, Lily and Gracie Abernathey; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Rather.

A visitation will be announced by family at a later date.
