Dr. Reinhard "Mike" L. and Marier Luise "Marlise" (Horn) Bubenze March 9, 2007
Dr. Reinhard " Mike" L. Bubenzer, 84, and his wife Marie Luise "Marlise" (Horn) Bubenzer, 87, passed away Friday March 9, 2007.
Dr. Reinhard Bubenzer was born February 14, 1923 in Freudenberg, Germany and is the son of the late Leopold and Irmgard (Siebel) Bubenzer. Mrs. Bubenzer was born October 14, 1919 in Kreuztal, Germany and is the daughter of the late Robert and Luise (Schuller) Horn. They we married in November of 1953.
Dr. Reinhard Bubenzer served in the German Navy from 1942-1945 and was repatriated as POW with the rank of Ensign Jr. Spade from Egypt in August 1948.
He emigrated to Indiana U.S.A. in November 1952. He graduated with a Dental degree. from the I.U. School of Dentistry in 1961 and practiced general dentistry in Greenfield until his retirement at age 69 in 1992. He also operated a referral practice for diagnosis for chronic pain, due to stress related TMJ dysfunction, in Indianapolis from 1981 until his retirement. Meeting stringent requirements of continuing education he was awarded a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1973. He maintained his status until his retirement.
He was founding president of the Greenfield Toastmasters Club in 1971 and after his retirement he was instrumental in establishing a local shelter for the homeless known as the Hancock Hope House, Inc. He served on the Board of Directors for the Hancock Senior Services and was a life member of the American Dental Association, the Indiana Dental Association, member of the Greenfield Rotary Club since 1961 and member of Bradley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his sister Christel Henrich and brother Rolf Bubenzer both of Germany.
Marlise Bubenzer was a graduate of the Lycean School for Girls in Betzdorf, Germany. Before immigration to Indiana U.S.A. in 1953, she worked as a dental assistant in her
home town of Neunkirchen, Germany. She married Reinhard Bubenzer upon her arrival in the U.S. in November 1953, and became a Certified Dental Technician working as such at Ito-Koby Dental Studio in Indianapolis. After her husband opened his dental office in Greenfield in 1961 she worked as a Certified Dental Technician in Dr. Bubenzers in- house dental laboratory.
Her memberships include; BPW in the early 1960s and Bradley United Methodist Church. During the years of 1965-1968 she broadcasted a weekly German language and music program on radio WSMJ in Greenfield. With her well received patriotic speech "To America With Love" she was a featured speaker under Mayor William Blue, at the Mayors Breakfast of Riley Days in October 1975.
Funeral Services for Dr. & Mrs. Bubenzer will be held at 1:00 p.m Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Pasco-Stillinger Funeral Home. Rev. Terry Campbell will officiate. Friends may call on Tuesday March 13, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bradley United Methodist Church.
