Richard Lee Stephens

Richard Lee "Poppy" Stephens, age 80, of Greenfield, Indiana, passed away on November 2, 2019, at Community North Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 20, 1938, in Pike County, IN to the late Ishmael Stephens & Opha (Price)Stephens. Richard graduated from Winslow High School in 1957. He married the love of his life, Phyllis (DeJarnett)Stephens, on July 15, 1961. He spent his career with Ford Motor Company until his retirement in 1993. Richard enjoyed hunting quail, fishing, camping and mushroom hunting. It was said that being outdoors is where Richard loved to be. Poppy loved his grandchildren very much and was extremely proud of each of them. He loved going to Sami's softball games and it was said he always prayed for home runs.But more than all of this, he loved spending time with his precious family who he loved dearly. Left to cherish Richard's memory are Phyllis Stephens (Wife), Felicia Frazier (Daughter), Cory Stephens (Grandson), Sami Frazier (Granddaughter), Jesse Stephens (Grandson), Michael Frazier (Grandson), Matthew Frazier (Grandson), Bruce Kifer (Cousin), Pat Hollan (Cousin), Brenda Stone (Cousin) and 3 great-grandchildren. Richard is proceeded in death by Ishmael Stephens (Father), Opha Stephens (Mother) &Rich Stephens (Son). Visitation for Richard will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, November 08, 2019, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 W. Main St, Greenfield, IN 46140. A Funeral Service will be at the funeral home on Saturday November 9, 2019, at 10:00 am. Burial will immediately follow the Funeral Service at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
