Richard E. Welling

Richard E. Welling, 79, of Knightstown, passed away Friday, September 19, 2025, at his residence. He was born on December 19, 1945, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Donald and Norma (Kessler) Welling. He graduated from Warren Central High School before obtaining his bachelor's degree in accounting at Ball State University. On October 19, 1985, Richard married his true love, Linda M. (Cook) Welling.

Richard worked in the banking industry as a CFO and controller for many years before retiring. He was an active member of the Wilkinson Church of Christ in Wilkinson, Indiana. Richard was a wonderful woodworker, fisherman, landscaper, farmer, and home remodeler. Richard could always be found with his wife, as they were inseparable, finding any waking moment to spend time together. He adored his black lab/terrier, Sadie Mae.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; their children, Matt Lung and Pamela (Garrett) Gough, also his children from a previous marriage Angela (Patrick) Myers, Drew (Michelle) Welling, and Jame Welling; and several beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, as listed above; and brothers, Ralph Welling and Robert Welling.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 25th, from 4pm – 8pm at Stillinger Family Funeral Home: Pasco Chapel, 1780 W. Main Street, Greenfield, IN. Services will be held at the funeral home the following morning on Friday, September 26th, 2025, at 10am.
