Rita Kaye (Kocher) Zimmerman

Rita Kaye (Kocher) Zimmerman, 80, Indianapolis, passed away on January 18, 2024. She was born on August 21, 1943, in Morristown, IN, to Dennis T. and Agnes M. (Presley) Kocher. Rita is a 1962 graduate of Greenfield High School.

Rita was a tremendously loving sister, aunt, and friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed. Rita loved working in her flower gardens, especially her rose gardens. She has an heirloom variety that is over 140 years old. She enjoyed sitting on the front porch, visiting, and drinking tea or Dt. Pepsi. She also enjoyed nature, watching and feeding the hummingbirds, taking small day trips to the parks or wherever the car took her, and delving into genealogy, especially on the micro phishes. Rita worked as an accountant for Western Electric, turned AT&T and Nokia. She retired in 1999.

Rita is survived by her loving sister, Janice (Larry) Linville; and loving nieces and nephews: Vonda (Larry) Lucas, Steve Wilson, Keith Wilson, Sharon Polley, Margie (Bob) Sturgeon, Kevin Wilson, Susie (Doyt) Moore, Ronnie (Donna) Hewitt, Gary (Kathy) Hewitt, Rick Hewitt, David (Trudy) Hogan, Karin (Al) Ochoa, Stuart (Sol) Ordonez, and Charlene (Hugo) Perez.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings: John Kocher, Irvin Kocher, Helen Morton, Mary Kocher, Ruth Ordonez, Dorothy Hewitt, Joan Hogan, and Frances Wilson.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 12noon at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, with the service immediately following with Pastor Tony Darling officiating. Burial will take place in Asbury Cemetery, Morristown, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association and/or the American Cancer Society.
