Reverend Robert C. Atkins of Greenfield went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 19, 2020. He was born June 19, 1928 in Slick Ford Kentucky to the late Andrew and Ida (Davis) Atkins. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Edith (Riddle) Atkins, whom he married on June 1, 1945. Robert was an ordained minister, Sheriff's Deputy and a local businessman for many years. He also worked for Marsh supermarkets as a meat cutter and was a School bus driver for Greenfield-Central School.
Robert had a life-long love of music and, as a child, played his guitar and sang with his sister on radio shows. He was a member of the Greenfield Wesleyan church for more than 50 years. Robert enjoyed family vacations and get togethers which often featured his special baked ham dish.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Barbara (Jim) Watson, Edithann (Matt) Hudson and Rhonda (Dee) Griffith and daughter-in-law Virginia Atkins, 14 grandchildren and many beloved great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, R. Wayne Atkins; daughter, Carolyn May Wright, infant daughter Margie Lou Atkins; granddaughter, Amberly Dawn (Watson) Owen, Son-in-law Steve Wright, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Private funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Michael Frausto M.S., of the Greenfield Wesleyan Church.
