Robert "Bob" Laverne Cochrane

Robert LaVerne Cochrane 'Bob', 77, of Carthage, Ind. passed away November 11, 2021. He was born March 19, 1944 to Carl and Genevieve (Mead) Cochrane of Goodland, Ind. Bob graduated from Goodland High School in 1962 and joined the Coast Guard, serving from 1962 to 1968 in the Vietnam War and New Orleans, La. He graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor's degree in Wildlife Science in 1971 where he met his wife of 50 years, Jennifer (Paul) Cochrane. They were married April 3, 1971. He pursued a graduate degree in Wildlife Ecology at University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating in 1973. He worked for the Wisconsin Department of National Resources as a wildlife manager until 1978 when Bob and Jennifer moved to Greenfield, Ind. and Bob began a career as a research scientist with Eli Lilly & Co. (Elanco Animal Health). He retired after 24 years in 2002. Bob was an avid bird hunter, fisherman, dog trainer, beekeeper, woodworker, and gardener. He loved his family and friends, his Brittany Spaniel hunting dogs, and the prairie of Montana. He is survived by his wife Jennifer, daughter Anneli Cochrane (Tim Horn), granddaughter Ava Horn, sister Candace Cochrane (John Lindsay), and nieces Kelly Donahue Montgomery, Kimber (Brian) Greene, Karrie (Brant) Murdock, and his two dogs, Rocky and Tess. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Gail Donahue. Friends may call Friday, November 19, 2021 from 4-7 pm at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Ind. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 20, at 11am at Knightstown Friends Church, 214 East Brown Street, Knightstown, Ind. Inurnment will take place in the future in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Carthage, IN.
