Robert Carroll Bragdon

Robert Carroll Bragdon, 92, passed away on December 31, 2024, in Greenfield, Indiana. Robert was born on April 26, 1932, in Lawrence, IN, to Claude and Helen (Crawford) Bragdon. Robert married the love of his life, Arnella Whiteside, on January 16, 1957. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before her passing in 2009. Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 stationed in Germany during the Korean War.

After his service to his country, he attended college in Riverside, CA, before working as a computer operator at Western Electric in Indianapolis. He retired in 1984 and with his wife Arnella, traveled the country and enjoyed being grandparents. Robert was an accomplished writer, having over 14 novels of fiction printed under his title of Lord Robert. He was skilled at re-upholstering furniture as well as an accomplished gardener, and vocalist. He performed in churches, at weddings, and even toured with a singing group in California while in college. He collected vintage model cars as well as enjoy attending car shows. He followed high school sports, especially those involving his grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his loving children, Cathy (Rod) Vredenburgh and Neil Bragdon; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; niece, Lori Wan; nephews, Jay Bragdon and Stephen Danenman; and close friend, Alan Grigsby.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Arnella; son, Todd Bragdon; and daughter-in-law, Joy (Kendall) Bragdon.

Visitation will be on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, with the service immediately following at 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will also follow in Willow Branch Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Additionally, a Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Lincoln Park Apartments, 600 West North Street, Greenfield, IN.
