Robert Dale Haven

Robert (Bob) Dale Haven, age 88, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, at Springhurst Health Campus, Greenfield, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Anderson on June 20, 1936, to the late Lillian V. (Evans) Haven and Orville W. Haven. Bob graduated from Anderson High School and Ball State University in 1957. He majored in Journalism and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.

He married Peggy Jane (Robinson) Haven in Indianapolis on August 17, 1962, and she survives. They met at the Indianapolis News in 1961. They were married for 57 years and were very devoted to each other. They are survived by the daughters, Jean Marie Starnes and Joanne Brady (Paul). Their eldest daughter, Julie A. Hallewell, preceded him in death in 2019.

Other surviving family members include six grandchildren: Rachel VanWoerden (Cody), Abigail Brady, Patrick Starnes, Christian Starnes (Peyton), Mallory Stanzck (James), and Kristina Hallewell; seven great-grandchildren: Sadie, Parker, Sophie and Adeline Starnes, Chloe and Blakely VanWoerden, and Hazel Grace Stanzck; sister-in-law, Molly A. Stratton; and best friend, Richard "Champ" Greenlee of Vincennes. A sister, Janet (Haven) Carey, preceded him in death.

Bob was an Advertising Manager at the Vincennes-Sun-Commercial for 38 years. He loved caring for his grandchildren and enjoyed his golden years at North Webster Lake. He had a great sense of humor and called everyone "Tiger." He had an unforgettable personality and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Hendryx Cumberland Chapel, 11636 E. Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46229. A service at Noon will immediately follow with Pastor Richard Blue officiating. Burial will take place at New Palestine Cemetery.
