Robert E. Huffman, age 82 of Indianapolis, IN passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on April 21, 1934 in Greenfield to the late Golie and Alice (Begley) Huffman.
Robert graduated from Greenfield High School in 1952 and was then drafted into the United States Navy during the Korean War until 1960 spending most of his time on the USS Porterfield. He attended Indiana University and obtained his B.A. Degree. He also attended Purdue University and obtained his Associates Degree in Industrial Engineering. Robert married the love of his life Carolyn Chandler on October 3, 1987. He spent his life working for the Ford Motor Company as a Maintenance Supervisor. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Indianapolis. Robert was an avid golfer and loved reading and crossword puzzles. Robert was a lifetime member of the Greenfield Elks Lodge, VFW, and the American Legion.
Robert is survived by his wife, Carolyn Huffman of Indianapolis; sons, Bruce (Barbra) Forth of Indianapolis; John (Denise) Forth of Indianapolis; daughters, Stephanie (Scott) Studebaker of Fortville; Dawn (Norman) Field of Florida; Jenny Stephenson of Indianapolis; sister, Virginia Metcalf of Florida; brother, Jim (Mary) Huffman of Greenfield; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding Robert in death are his parents listed above, brother Dick Huffman, and his grandson Cpl. Scott Studebaker.
Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 with burial immediately following the service at Park Cemetery in Greenfield, 621 S State St, Greenfield, IN 46140. Military Honors will be presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard.
