Robert E. Jackson October 22, 1923 - November 24, 2006
Robert E. Jackson, age 83, of Greenfield, passed away November 24, 2006. Mr. Jackson was born October 22, 1923 in Greenfield to the late James H. and Madge (Ferris) Jackson.
He had been employed as a Lab Technician with Eli Lilly Co. for over 46 years before retiring in 1988. His memberships include the Mt. Lebanon U.M. Church, a life member of Post #119, American Legion; the American Legion 40 & 8, the Chosin Few, Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard, the Marine Corps League of Morristown, Hancock Masonic Lodge #101, and the Indianapolis Scottish Rite.
He served with the U.S. Army in WWII at the Battle of the Bulge with the 1st Bn., 289th Inf., 75th Division. He also served with the U.S. Marine Corps in Korea with the 1st Bn., 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was a survivor of the Chosin Reservoir Campaign attaining the rank of Sergeant.
Surviving are children, Deanna Dalton of Urbana, IL, Robert L. Jackson of Greenfield, and Dean E. Jackson of Memphis, TN. 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by wife Bertha Mae (Wilson) Jackson, daughter Brenda Moss, and brothers James Jackson, Jr. and Charles Jackson.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday November 27, 2006 at Pasco-Stillinger Funeral Home, Greenfield with Pastor Hugh Severance officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Asbury Cemetery, Morristown. Friends may call from 2-6 P.M. Sunday November 26, 2006 at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted at 5:30 P.M.
