Robert Eugene Rickett, 90, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on April 15, 2026. He was born on March 19, 1936, in Lerna, Illinois, to Edward and Mary (Bates) Rickett, one of seventeen children.
Robert knew from an early age that he wanted to serve his country, and at just 17 years old, he enlisted in the United States Army. He became a career military man, serving for 20 years and traveling the world, with postings that took him from Korea to Germany. Over the course of his service, he participated in several wars and conflicts and experienced many adventures. However, the most meaningful chapter of his life began when he met and married the love of his life, Nancy Lee (Walgenbach) Rickett, while they were both serving in San Francisco.
Together, they built a life and raised two loving daughters. Following his retirement from the military in 1973, Robert embraced life as a devoted husband and father. He was an active member of the Lions Club and an avid bowler, participating in many local leagues and games throughout the years.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Nancy, and most of his siblings.
He is survived by his daughters, Deborah G. Rickett and Joyce E. Pulis (Michael); his grandchildren, Terri Troxell and Christopher Pulis (Amanda); his great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Troxell, Conner Troxell, Blaine Pulis, and Daphne Pulis; as well as his sisters, Dorothy Sparrow and Barbara Moran.
