Robert L. Ross October 31, 1926 - December 17, 2013
Robert L. Ross, 87 of Greenfield passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Hancock Regional Hospice. He was born October 31, 1926 in Shelby County, Indiana to the late Ora and Flossie (Carter) Ross. Robert was a graduate of Morristown High School and attended Butler University for one year. He served his country during WWII in the Army Air Force. Robert was married to Iris (Taylor) Ross from 1950 to 1976 and together they had three children. He retired in 1991 as a claims examiner for Meridian Mutual Insurance Co. of Indianapolis after 40 years in the insurance industry. He married Louise (Carter) Ross on May 21, 1994 at Trinity Park U.M.C., Greenfield. Robert attended Trinity Park U.M.C., was a member of the American Legion Post #119, Greenfield and the Moose Lodge #17, Indianapolis. Robert enjoyed Pacers basketball, Colts football, golf and fishing. His favorite vacation was a European trip in 2006. He is survived by his wife Louise of Greenfield, daughters; Lin (Paul) Wheeler of Indianapolis and Cynthia (Jim) Rudishauser of Sisters, Oregon, step daughters; Kathleen Burton of Greenfield, Shonece (James) Goebel of Shelbyville and Christine Roberts of Indianapolis, sister; Geneva Purcell of Morristown, daughter in law; Debbie Ross, grandchildren; Ryan Wheeler, Sean Dobson, Nathan Burton, Zachary Burton, Anthony James (A.J.) Burton, Kiah Mason, Kameron Kelly, Caleb Kelly, Cheyenne Goebel and Bailey Goebel, great grandchildren; Kyndle Mason and Caiden Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents, son; Steven L. Ross, one sister and four brothers; Margaret, George, Dale, Carter and Joe and granddaughter Chanda Wheeler. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 23, 2013 at Trinity Park United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Manning officiating. Friends may call Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 1:00 until 5:00 pm at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140 and one hour prior to service at the church. Burial with full military rites provided by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard will follow service at Hanover Cemetery, Shelby County, Indiana.
