Robert D. Sleeth June 28, 1929 - October 18, 2010
Robert D. Sleeth, 81, a resident of Knightstown, formerly of Greenfield, passed away Monday, October 18, 2010 at his daughters home surrounded by family.
He was born June 28, 1929 in New Palestine, IN and was the son of the late Ernest Columbus and Marie (Behnke) Sleeth.
He was a 1947 graduate of New Palestine High School, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a pipefitter for Indiana Gas Company for 21 years. He was a past Commander of the Morristown American Legion #102 and a member of the New Hope Church in Lewisville. He enjoyed fishing, basketball, football and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Kathy (Sleeth) Belcher of Greenfield, Kristi (Sleeth) Ebbert, husband, Randy of Knightstown and Kevin (Darla) Sleeth of Morristown; very special companion, Martha Stevens of Lewisville, IN; brother, Bill (Diane) Sleeth of New Whiteland, IN; sister, Judy Smith of Martinsville, IN; grandchildren, Jennifer (Belcher) Walls, Amy (Belcher) VanDuyn, Heather (Ebbert) Reed, Robert Ebbert; 6 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Kennedy) Sleeth; brother, Richard Sleeth and a sister, Phyllis Toon.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, of Greenfield with Pastor Jim Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington East Hill Cemetery with full military rites provided by the Morristown American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m.
