Rodney Charles Mcdanel

Rodney "R.C." McDanel, 66, of Greenfield passed away March 2, 2021 at his home. He was born June 3, 1954 in Centerville, Iowa to Walter L. McDanel and Geneva M. Frantzreb. Rodney served in the U.S. Air Force as a Military Police Officer and was honorably discharged. Once out of the service he went back to school to obtain his high school diploma from John Marshall High School in Indianapolis in 1984, then went on to receive his Associate Degree. Rodney married Tracie Karandos on July 1, 1976 in St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to his retirement, Rodney was a lineman and communications specialist for T.C.I. Rodney never knew a stranger and could "talk the ear off" of anyone he encountered. He loved gardening and cooking. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren Caylend, Makenzie, and Zander, along with his beloved puppy, Teddy. He is survived by his mother, Geneva Frantzreb; wife, Tracie McDanel; children: Rachel (Johnny) Johnson, Darcy McDanel, Jason Godwin, Chad McDanel, and Nathaniel (Diana) McDanel; sisters: Brenda (Bill) Potts, Faith Lewis, and Freida (Michael) Phillips; brothers and sisters-in-law: Tony (Pam) Karandos, Robert Colcord, Tammy (Steve) Howard, Tena (Mike) May, and Tonia Karandos; grandchildren: Delaney, Caylend, Makenzie, Zander, Larry Lee, Zachary, Aaron, Christopher, Breanna, Kelsey, Jason, Madison, Alexa, and Lauryn; great-grandchildren: Hope, Zachary Jr., Haydon, and Jason; as well as his many nieces; nephews; and extended family that he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter McDanel; daughter, April McDanel; father-in-law, James Karandos; mother-in-law, Pauline Karandos; sister-in-law, Terri Colcord; grandson, Nicholas Alexander Cranor; and nephew, Antonio Edwards. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 8, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville, Indiana, with military rites afforded.
