Ronald "Ron" Ashdown September 21, 1939 - July 26, 2014
Ronald "Ron" H. Ashdown, 74 of Greenfield passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at his home. He was born September 21, 1939 in Fremont, Ohio, the son of the late Leslie and Lillian (Dunham) Ashdown. After graduating from the University of Cincinnati, he served 4 years in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany where he met his future wife. He worked for the Department of Defense at Fort Harrison as an Accountant for over 30 years prior to his retirement. Ron was an avid bird watcher, loved to read and garden as well as spend time walking his dog. He is survived by his son; Glynn L. (Wendy Binion) of Cumberland, daughter; Diana (Bryon) Hartzog of Indianapolis, grandchildren; Kirsten Jackley, Kaitlyn, Madison and Justin Hartzog all of Indianapolis and his constant four-legged companion; Hope. He was preceded in death by his wife Ute (Eberhardt) Ashdown in 2008. Friends may call from 4-8 pm Thursday, July 31 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140. Burial with full Military Rites provided by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard for Ron will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in Rons honor to the Hancock County Humane Society, 214 East Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140.
