Ronald Lee Davis

Ronald Lee Davis, age 87 of Charlottesville, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023, in Greenfield. He was born May 22, 1936, in Greencastle, Indiana to the late Omer V. and Gladys (Boram) Davis. Ron was a 1954 graduate of Charlottesville High School. He married Sherry L. Crider on February 28, 1964.

Ron served in the United States Naval Construction Battalion also known as the Navy Seabees. Prior to retiring, Ron was owner of Omer V. Davis & Son Excavating in Charlottesville. He was a longtime volunteer firefighter with the Jackson-Blue River Fire Department, and member of the Elks Lodge and American Legion Post 119, Greenfield.

Ron was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trap shooting. He loved cars, especially Corvettes. He always enjoyed his chocolate ice cream from the Dairy Queen.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sherry Davis; daughter, Jolee Smith (Aaron Gilbert); grandchildren, Mason Davis Smith and Marlee Jo Smith; nephew, Todd Knarr (Sally Smekens); niece, Karen (Mike) Markle; great niece, Molly Jo (Ian) Willis; and father of his grandchildren, Mark Smith.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Jo Knarr.

Friends may call 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana. Funeral Service at 1:00 pm with Pastor Debb Ebersole officiating. Burial immediately following at McCray Cemetery, Wilkinson, Indiana.
