Rowena Joyce Reese

Rowena Joyce Reese December 1, 1947 - September 24, 2008 Rowena Joyce Reese, 60, a resident of Greenfield, passed away, Wednesday, September 24, 2008 after a nine month battle with leukemia. She was born December 1, 1947 in Indianapolis to Donald and Marjorie (Rarey) Morelock. Rowena was a graduate of Ball State University. She retired from the Greenfield Central Community School Corporation after teaching first grade at Lincoln Park Elementary for 32 years and J.B. Stephens Elementary for 2 years. She reluctantly had to leave her job after 1 years as a first grade special education instructional assistant in January 2008 due to her illness. From the age of five years old she truly loved going to school as a student and teacher. Rowena is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Steve Reese of Greenfield; special step-son, Travis Reese of Woodruff, SC; grandson, Taylor Reese of Woodruff, SC; mother, Marjorie Morelock of Greenfield; sisters, LaDonna Golden and Pam (Larry) Sullivan, all of Indianapolis; brother, Denton Scott (Debbie) Morelock of New Palestine; two nieces and four nephews of Indianapolis; two nieces and two nephews of Greenwood; two nieces and one nephew of St. Paris, OH; 19 great nieces and nephews; best friend of 61 years, Leslie (Mike) Sherman of Greenwood; "adopted daughter", Sherry Kimball of Columbus, OH; high school friend of 46 years, Elaine Asbrock of Indianapolis; friend of 42 years from college, Bev (John) McKinney of St. Paris, OH; great teaching friend of 36 years, Peg (Bob) Strickland; best four legged friends, Megan, Scully and Cody. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Morelock. Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Monday, September 29, 2008 at Trinity Park United Methodist Church, 207 W. Park Avenue, Greenfield with Rev. Mike Manning officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield.
