Russell Dwain Daily

Russell "Rusty" Dwain Daily, 78, Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Russell was born on September 22, 1945, in Lafayette, IN, to Kermit and Edna (Thomas) Daily.

Russell honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1969. Russell was a tremendously loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed. Russell was the first individual in Indiana to achieve a first-time passing score of becoming a Certified Golf Course Superintendent. With his certification, he honorably worked for golf courses in the Indianapolis, Carmel, and Franklin areas. His love of golf, writing poetry, reading, being a 4X trader, and following in the footprints of God paled in comparison to his love for his "little pumpkins" known as his grandchildren. Russell attended New City Church as well as Fair Haven Christian Church in Franklin.

Russell is survived by his loving wife Kathleen (Guarino) Daily; their children: Ryan Daily, Kendra Daily, and Heather (Lee) Thompson; 3 grandchildren: Moira Himes, Freya Himes, and Sophia Thompson; and sister, Phyllis Collins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 siblings; and granddaughter, Ava Thompson.

Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Cumberland Chapel, is of assistance to the Daily family during their loss.  A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at New City Church, 345 N. Kitley Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46219, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., with the memorial service immediately following at 3:00 p.m., with full military rites afforded.  Memorial contributions may be made to Johnson County Senior Services, 36 Tracy Road, Whiteland, IN 46184.
