Ruth Ann Pierson

Ruth Ann Pierson, 79, Greenfield, passed away on April 14, 2021. Ruth was born on February 13, 1942 in Greenfield, to William W. and Frances (Boring) Pyles. She graduated from Hancock Central High School in 1960. Ruth was a dedicated, hard-working woman throughout her entire life, until her retirement. In her younger days, she worked for Strafford Drug Store. She then worked for many years at Indiana Knit Wear. To meet her growing family needs, she also worked part-time at Foster's Hamburgers. In more of her adulthood, she worked for Electra, turned Uniden, making bearcat scanners for 15+ years. She then transitioned to Proportion-Air as a calibration specialist until 2012, when she retired at age 70. Ruth was always seen with a book in her hands as she loved to read. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee, completing word searches, and keeping abreast of the supermarket tabloids. Ruth was a straight-shooter, always speaking her mind. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her loving son, James W. (Carol) Penry; 5 awesome grandchildren: Steven W. Foster, Micki L. Foster, Whitney E. Penry, Traci L. Penry, and Laura K. Penry; 5 amazing great-grandchildren: Altair Foster, Gabriel Grimaldo, Emily Grimaldo, Isaac Grimaldo, and Madisyn Foster; brother, Robert Pyles; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; sons: Steven Foster and Jay Penry; granddaughter, Amanda Rae Penry; and sister, Betty Montgomery. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Park Cemetery, Greenfield, following visitation, officiated by Pastor Roger Kinion.
