Shirley Ann (Bridwell) Steward

Shirley Ann (Bridwell) Steward, 83, Greenfield, passed away on December 2, 2022, at her residence with faithful companion, Coco, by her side. Shirley was born on July 27, 1939, in Bedford, IN, to Arthur Van and Erma (Love) Bridwell. She married her first husband, Perry Stephen Robertson in 1954. Shirley grew up in Bedford. The Ford Motor Company drew the family to the Greenfield area in 1957.

Shirley worked for Inskeep Ford as a car saleswoman. She also worked for Collins and Aikman in Morristown, a nursing home in Greenfield, as a janitor for the First Church of God, and as a shirt worker for Indiana Knitwear for many years before retiring. Shirley was an avid animal lover, an avid collector of family correspondence, enjoyed bowling, and camping and gathering around a campfire on the Ohio River. She was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church as well as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Shirley spent much time reading from her many Bibles and attending Bible study. Shirley also enjoyed reading Christian fiction books and watching TV. In 1974, Shirley married Albert "Gabby" Steward, Sr. Shirley loved music and dancing and was an enthusiastic follower of her husband's band, 'Gabby & The Boys'.

Shirley is survived by her loving children: Sheryl Smith (Dennis Woeltje), Brenda Robertson, Scott Robertson (Frances Garriott), Stacey Robertson, and Albert (Robin) Steward, Jr.; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sondra (Conrad) Quinn and Carol Freeman-Knapp; and beloved dog, Coco.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Perry Robertson; second husband, Albert "Gabby" Steward, Sr; and son, Stephen Douglas Steward.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 9, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, with the service immediately following at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Reverend Tommy Hensley. Burial will take place in Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Suburban Hospice, Bethel Baptist Church, and/or any charity of your choice.
