Shirley Ann Chatmon (Mayes) passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 15, 2025 at Vita in Greenfield, Indiana. She was born on Nov. 26, 1940 in Browder, Kentucky to the late Marvin and Maude (Epley) Mayes.
Shirley married David M. Chatmon on May 29, 1958 who passed away on August 11, 2004. She retired from Jenn-Air in 1989 and lived in French Lick, Indiana for many years and just recently moved back to Greenfield. Shirley loved crocheting, cooking, working outdoors tending to her yard, flower beds and small garden. She especially loved her family and enjoyed cooking for her loved ones anytime there was a gathering or visits with her grandchildren and great grandkids. Shirley is survived by her daughter Danita (Hollie) Washburn, son David (Naomi) Chatmon, grandson Wade (Courtney) Chatmon, two granddaughter’s Amanda Chatmon & Katie Washburn, nine great grandchildren Sawyer, Cora, Emmett & Benjamin Chatmon, Charlie & Colston Thomas, Jaxton, Hollie & Arthur Washburn and one brother Jerry (Sharon) Mayes, several nieces & nephews and one very special & dear companion Don Wood. In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her grandson Guy D. Washburn, siblings Ruby Fleming, Myrtle Granado and Harland Mayes. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
