Shirley Darlene (Mills) Oleksy

Shirley Darlene (Mills) Oleksy, 76, Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022, in Indianapolis with family by her side. She was born on September 4, 1945, to Delbert and Garnet Ruth (Downham) Mills, in Elwood, IN. Shirley worked as a day care worker for Trusty Cook in Indianapolis for many years. Following her day care days, she enjoyed being a homemaker. Shirley attended Greenfield First Church of the Nazarene as well as Bethel Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and making ceramics. But, above all, Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her loving children, Patricia Gosser and Stephanie (Bill) Banta; daughter-in-law, Robin Oleksy; 6 grandchildren: William A. (Brianna) Banta, Cole Oleksy, Tyler J. Oleksy, Emily R. Oleksy, Angela R. (Jon) Sears, and Whitney L. (Chris) Clinton; 6 great-grandchildren; and sisters: Teresa McDuffee, Mary Haygood, and Betty Savage. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Oleksy, Jr.; son, James "Jay" Oleksy; great-grandson, Brandon Sears; and second husband by faith, James L. Stone, Sr. Visitation will be on Monday, January 17, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, with the funeral service immediately following at 12:00 noon, officiated by Shirley's nephew, Lance Stevens. THE OLEKSY FAMILY KINDLY REQUESTS ALL GUESTS TO WEAR APPROPRIATE FACIAL COVERINGS AS THEY ATTEND THE GATHERINGS. Burial will be private.
