Sondra Kay (Herndon) Johnson

Sondra Kay Johnson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas. Born on September 2, 1947, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to the late Donald Wilson and Alice Lucille Herndon, Sondra lived a life filled with love, family, and quiet strength.

On July 22, 1967, she married James Robert Johnson, her devoted partner until his passing. Together, they built a beautiful family, nurturing their children with unwavering support and warmth.

Sondra is survived by: her daughter, Amy Rene New; her son, Robert James Johnson; her grandchildren: Erik Charles Johnson, Samantha Rene Wright (and her spouse, Chad Wright), and Shelby Gene New; her great-granddaughter, Kinley Isabelle Wright; and her step-great-grandson, Asher Wright.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Wilson and Alice Lucille Herndon; her husband, James Robert Johnson; and her daughter, Carrie Lynn Dellinger.

Sondra's legacy lives on through the love she shared with her family and the memories that will forever warm their hearts. She will be deeply missed but always remembered.

Visitation will be on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home- Hendryx Cumberland Chapel, 11636 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229. The funeral service will be the following day, Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home, with Reverend Monica Ouellette officiating. Burial will be in St. John United Church of Christ Cemetery, Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
