Stella "Marie" Burkhart June 20, 1918 - April 14, 2010 Stella "Marie" Burkhart, 91, a resident of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at her home surrounded by family. She was born June 20, 1918 in Byrdstown, Tennessee to the late Norman and Hattie Jane (Huddleston) Couch. Marie worked as secretary for Farm Bureau Insurance of Greenfield from 1964-1973, was a member of D.A.R. Brandywine Creek Chapter, Hancock County Historical Society, Hancock County Farm Bureau and published two genealogy books on the Couch and Burkhart families. She was a member of Currys Chapel U.M.C., loved vegetable and flower gardening, refinishing furniture and loved cooking for the Burkhart family and friends. Marie was a loving mother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by a daughter, Susan Jane Brower of Greenfield/Indianapolis; sisters, Louise Edwards of Greenfield; Ann Bricker of Wilkinson; Helen Engleking of Salem; Gladys Reeves of Collinsville, OK; Laura Sexton of Indianapolis, Linda Monroe of Greenfield; brothers, Lyman and Bill Couch of Greenfield; daughter-in-law, Linda Burkhart of Greenfield; 4 grandchildren, Brad (Renee) Burkhart, Brett (Janelle) Burkhart, Brian (Mary) Burkhart, Jason Brower; 2 step-grandchildren, Steve (Cathy) Brower, Jan Curtis; 9 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Burkhart, 1994; son, Jerry Burkhart, 2005; sister, Evelyn Couch; brother, George Couch and granddaughter, Lorelei Brower, 2005. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, Greenfield with Pastor Adam Payne officiating.
