Susan Jeannette (Smith) Wray

Susan Jeannette (Smith) Wray, 79, Camby, IN, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, while she was living with her son and daughter-in-law in New Palestine. Susan was born on April 15, 1946, in Shelbyville, IN, to Jesse Lewis and Inez Josephine (Settles) Smith.

Susan was a Christian woman, often times speaking to her family about religious beliefs and following a few religious programs on TV. She loved to vegetable and flower garden, watch for backyard cardinals, sew, and crochet. She was a former member of the Mooresville Sewing and Crochet Clubs. She was also a member of the Silver Sneakers program. In her younger years, Susan was enrolled in beauty school, became licensed, and made all the girls pretty in her neighborhood, as she had a beauty salon in her home.

Susan is survived by her loving children, Dawn N. Fagan Knuckles, Gwyn A. Fagan (Rex) Voils, and Allen D. (Kim) Fagan; 5 grandchildren: Chad Tucker, Amanda Kinman, Marshall Tucker, Buster Voils, and Alex Voils; 6 great-grandchildren: Donovan Tucker, Adley Voils, Arlen Voils, Aubrie Kinman, Aiden Kinman, and soon-to-arrive baby Voils; brother, Kenny (Linda) Smith; sister-in-law and best friend, Earlene Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joel L. Wray of 15 years; and brothers, Donald Smith and Lewis Smith.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home- Hendryx New Palestine Chapel, 19 East Main Street, New Palestine, IN. The service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Roger Kinion officiating. Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery.
