Susie Jane (Rash) Maroska, age 89 of Greenfield, passed away at her home on Monday, January 25, 2021, surrounded by her family after a 2 year battle with lung cancer.
Susie was born in Greenfield on June 2, 1931 to Floyd & Charlotte (Frank) Rash. She married her high school sweetheart, Andy Maroska, on December 22, 1951, who preceded her in death after 61 years. She graduated from Eden High School in 1949 and received her nursing degree from Methodist School of Nursing in 1952. She retired from Hancock Memorial Hospital after many years of service in 1989.
Susie was an active member of Eden United Methodist Church (UMC) and served as the President of the UMC Women's group for many years. She volunteered with many organizations over the years, such as the Food Pantry and the Cooper Corner Crowd. She was an avid fan of the Indiana Pacers, Indiana Hoosiers, Purdue Boilermakers, college basketball, and loved playing cards. But most of all, she loved her family.
Susie is survived by her daughters, Sharon Fry (Steve Walters), Debbie Ginley, Kim Thornburg (Jack), and son Mike Maroska (Kris). She loved spending time with her 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was expecting 2 additional great-grandchildren and her first great-great-grandchild in 2021.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles Andy; infant grandson, Justin; son-in-law, Richard Ginley; and sister, Mary Fair.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Eden United Methodist Church, Eden, IN. The funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Dave Crittenden officiating.
