Tamara Kay Gaines

Tamara Kay Gaines, 65, passed away peacefully at home in Greenfield, Indiana, on March 1, 2024. Tamara was born on January 4, 1959, in Manhattan, Kansas, to Jerry and Judy Bartlett. She was one of three children.

Tamara went to high school at Scecina Catholic high school in Indianapolis and finished her last year and graduated from Lawrence Central high school. Tamara met the love of her life, Steven Gaines, and they were married on December 5, 1981. She worked for a short time in food services for the school cafeteria, but her main job and passion was being a stay-at-home wife and mom to their daughter, Amanda. She loved making home cooked meals for her family, especially pancake breakfasts she made for her daughter. She was an amazing cake decorator! She even made Amanda's bridal shower cake, which was a beautiful replica of a wedding dress.

Tamara also loved doing crafts, but her specialty was crocheting. She made all sorts of beautiful pieces, many that she donated to cancer patients. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren, Layla and Lyle. Tamara had a big heart and was an all-around loving, nurturing person.

Tamara leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Amanda (Jon) Holmes; two grandchildren, Layla, 12 and Lyle, 7; one sister, Pam (John) Deck; brother Robert Bartlett; her fur baby, Annie; a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her husband, Steven Gaines.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. with a service to follow at 12:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 W. Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140.
