Theresa Kay Belcher passed away on Saturday, March 28th, at St. Vincent's hospital in Indianapolis. Her husband of thirty-six years was by her side.
She was affectionately known as "Sissy" or "Sis" to her brothers and sister.
She was born on October 7, 1948, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. She moved to Indiana in 1963 and graduated from Arlington High School in Indianapolis in 1967. She lived in Denver, Colorado, from 1973 to 1975.
On April 14th, 1984, she married Randal Belcher whose coincidental same last name lead to their introduction.
She worked in insurance for forty-eight years and retired from MJ Insurance in Carmel in June of 2017.
She was preceded in death by her mother Ernestine (Burke) and Prentis Belcher of Pendleton, and her brother Billy of Winchester, Indiana. She is survived by her husband Randy Belcher of Willow Branch, daughters Jennifer (Jim) Reynolds of Bloomington, Amy (Dan) Van Duyn of Greenfield, grandchildren Jack Walls and Joe Walls of Bloomington, Leo Van Duyn of Greenfield, brother John (Karen) Belcher of Fortville, sister Martha Sexton of Greenfield, brother Mike (Robin) Belcher of Fortville, brother Phil Belcher of Pendleton, and many beloved nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
Theresa was a breast cancer survivor and was admired for her strength and resilience. Those who knew her were endeared by her selflessness and humble character. She was a devout Christian and a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Greenfield.
She loved her pets and is well-known for her compassion for animal welfare. She enjoyed reading and learning, especially about history and was particularly interested in the American Civil War. Her other hobbies included gardening, crafts, and home improvement. Her favorite movies were old classics. She was fond of pizza and ice cream. She appreciated music and was a fan of The Beatles.
Most of all, Theresa loved her family and friends and treasured her time with them.

There will be a Celebration of Life memorial after the COVID-19 crisis is over when extended family and friends can gather in her honor. More information will be shared at that time. Immediate services will be private.
