Timothy "Tim" Wayne Griffith, 73, of Knightstown, Indiana, passed away on June 24, 2025. Born November 1, 1951, and raised in Greenfield, Indiana, Tim lived a full, bold, and adventurous life.
After completing the 9th grade, Tim decided school wasn't for him and launched into a working life that would lead him many places — including the United States Marine Corps, where he was drafted in 1970. After his service, he embarked on the adventure of a lifetime, hitchhiking over 3,600 miles from Greenfield, Indiana, through Whitehorse, Canada, and on to Fairbanks, Alaska.
Tim retired in 2014 from a long and respected career in maintenance and construction. In his retirement, he found joy in the everyday — spending time with Carol, his children, and his grandchildren. He also deeply loved spending time with his beloved pug, Wrigley. Tim was an avid coin collector, an enthusiastic birdwatcher, a passionate fisherman, and a full-time Facebook provocateur who loved a good debate.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Griffith; his sister-in-law Roberta Griffith; his brother-in-law and best friend Michael Copeland; and his children: Timothy (Laura) J. Griffith, Valerie Griffith, Samantha Pritchett, Jeremy (Mara) Griffith, Leah (Jonathan) Meckel, Shawn Renner, and Nikki (Andy) Miles. He is also survived by his three stepdaughters, Erika (Matt) Rose, Adrienne (Bryan) Thomas, and Kelcey (Cody) Wall; 14 cherished grandchildren; many beloved friends and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theron and Dorothy (Marshall) Griffith. His siblings John Griffith, Theron Griffith Jr., Bob Griffith, Ray Griffith, David Griffith, Steve Griffith, Dennis Griffith, Anita Copeland, and Karen Sue Gibson. His family finds comfort knowing he is now reunited with his immediate family, a circle completed once again.
Tim will be remembered for his fierce independence, bold storytelling, sense of humor, and deep love for his family.
A visitation will be held Monday, June 30th, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. At Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 W Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140 with a funeral service immediately following at 2 p.m. A family and friends reunion will be held in his honor at a later date.
In tribute to Tim's values and love for family, the family asks that in his memory, you make time to reunite with your loved ones — pick up the phone, sit around a table, and when possible, bring back the tradition of Sunday dinners. That's what he would have wanted most.
