Ula Jean "Jean" (Hendren) Polk, 63, Greenfield, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, February 21, 2025, with her loving family standing by her side. Jean was born on January 6, 1962, in Anderson, IN, to Francis Lael and Patricia Ann (McPherson) Hendren. She is a 1981 graduate of Greenfield Central High School. On September 9, 1983, Jean married the love of her life, Eugene Bruce "Pokey" Polk.
Jean's pride and joy was her love for the Lord. She praised the Lord's account and actions to anyone and everyone. She was also a staple in her church of worship, Calvary Baptist. Jean's second pride and joy was her family. She enjoyed every moment raising her children, seeing them blossom into the role models they are, and then spoiling the grandchildren as they came into the world. Jean was looked up to as the matriarch of the family. She held everyone together when they needed it the most. Family vacations were a blessing and an adventure. Family enjoyed their time in Michigan, Virginia Beach, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, and camping. Jean's hobbies included camping, sewing, reading, and watching car racing as well as football on TV. Daily morning rituals of sipping coffee and playing rummy and Yahtzee with Pokey were Jean's treasured memories before they went their own ways for the day. Jean worked for Tangram 20+ years and Life Choice as a program coordinator.
Jean is survived by her beautiful children: Eddy (Wendy) Polk, Susy Jefford, Penny Polk, and Samantha (Blake) Beauchat; wonderful grandchildren: Brandon (Samantha) Radford, Cody (Andi) Polk, Whitney Jefford, Matthew Polk, Zeke Jefford, Layni Beauchat, Addison Beauchat, and Paisley Beauchat; and just as wonderful great-grandchildren: Eva, Hudson and Olivia Radford, Kade Jefford, and Averie Polk; beautiful sisters, Penny Tanner and Mary Hendren; brother-in-law, Pokey (Roxanne) Polk; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Patricia Hendren; husband, Pokey of 37 years; granddaughter, Kelsey Jane Polk; and brother-in-law, Wilbur "Jr." Tanner.
