Vera Virginia Murray

Vera Virginia Murray, 95, of Greenfield, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born April 15, 1931, in Arkansas, to Henry and Lizzie (Howard) Caldwell.

Vera worked for Jenn-Air for many years before she retired. After retirement, she began to help elderly people. Vera was known for her caring and generous personality. She loved to help people in any way she could, even if it was simple tasks, such as folding someone’s laundry or helping them clean their home.

When she wasn’t helping others, Vera spent her leisure time crocheting, sewing, and working on puzzles. She was also a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Greenfield.

Survivors include her daughter, Annie (Terry) Murray Bates; three grandchildren, Gary, Chris, and Eric; four great-grandchildren, Owen, Tori, Peyton, and Addison; and one great-great-grandchild, D’Angelo; her sister, Linda Revolt; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Vera is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Murray; two children, Helen Murray and Johnny (JoDeen) Murray; her granddaughter, Ashley; her parents; her four siblings, William Caldwell, Kathryn Murray, and Frances Gilbert, and Florence Grider.

Visitation will be on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Brother Dave Mora officiating. Entombment will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery.
