Verla Doughty

Verla Doughty, 87 years, a resident of Lagrange, Ind., formerly of Greenfield, Ind. passed away Tuesday morning, June 25, 2024, at her residence. She was born April 26, 1937, in Greenfield, Ind. to the late Ivan and Kathryn (Macy) Schaekel.

Verla graduated from Greenfield High School in 1955 and was a member of Greenfield Christian Church, Greenfield, Ind. She retired from New York Life Insurance Company after 37 years of employment as a secretary. She was an avid Pacers and Colts fans that loved spending time, cooking and caring for her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Kevin) Riley, Lori Graddy, grandchildren, Amber Graddy, Mandi Graddy, Brandon Riley, Dani Gunn, great grandchildren, Maci, Brody, Grayson, Owen, Cash, Charlie, Jax, Ryder, Kennedy, Livi, Tommy, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents listed above, son, Denny Sunman, son-in-law, Ron Graddy, siblings, Marita Beatty, Darl Schaekel, Randy Schaekel and Judy Stuck.

Visitation will be 11:00 am until 12:00 pm Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 W. Main Street, Greenfield, Ind. 46140. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, Ind.
