Wanda Janell Townsend
March 31, 1935 – April 21, 2026
Wanda Janell Townsend, lovingly known as Janell, was born on March 31, 1935, in Vandervoort, Arkansas, to Robert Woodrow and Ila Mae Johnston. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family.
Janell married Benly Townsend, on October 31, 1953. Together, they had two children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benly Townsend; her brother, Paul Johnston; and her sister, Betty Rivers. She is survived by her brother, Stan Johnston.
Janell leaves behind a legacy of love through her children, Cindy Davis and her husband David of Greenfield, Indiana, and Michael Townsend and his wife Lyniece of Springdale, Arkansas. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Dustin, Devon, and Ethan Davis, and Benly, Bailey, and Blair Townsend. She was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren, as well as an honorary granddaughter, Brooke Ferguson, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Janell had a deep love for college basketball and was one of the sport’s biggest fans, rarely missing a chance to watch a game. She also found great joy in playing cards, especially when surrounded by family and friends, creating countless memories filled with laughter.
She will be especially remembered for her infectious laugh and sharp sense of humor, which brought light and joy to everyone around her. Her presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
