Wanita J. Brooks

Wanita J. Brooks, age 91 of Greenfield passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Morristown Manor, Morristown. She was born February 29, 1924 in Greenfield to the late Harold W. and Mabel (Rasener) Cottey. She married Dale E. Brooks on December 24, 1940 in Greenfield. They made their home and raised their family in Greenfield where Wanita owned and operated the Nita B Beauty Shop from 1956 1963. Dale and Wanita loved to travel and visited many places on their motorcycle trips. The Brooks family spent several summers fishing in Minnesota and their cottage at Kuhn Lake. Wanita was a member of Currys Chapel Church, loved to knit and crochet. In earlier years she played the organ and was song leader at church. Wanita is survived by her son, Norman (Maria) Brooks; daughter, Dona (Jack) Shamblin all of Greenfield, 3 grandchildren, and 3 step grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dale Brooks, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Friends may call 4-8 PM, Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield. Graveside services will be 11 AM Thursday, March 3rd at Currys Chapel Cemetery, Greenfield.
