Wareen Ruth (Richardson) Shipley

Wareen Ruth (Richardson) Shipley, 70, Greenfield, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family. Wareen was born on June 15, 1954, in Anderson, IN, to Don and Marilyn Marie (Keffer) Richardson. Wareen graduated from Madison Heights High School. Wareen married the love of her life, Charles William Shipley, on July 10, 1981.

Wareen retired from Eden Elementary School as an instructional assistant after 32 dedicated years of service. While an assistant, she enjoyed interacting with fellow teachers, staff, and students. All loved her. Wareen could often be found going above and beyond with daily activities, such as going in early every day, and spending extra time with the teachers. It was often said that fellow teachers fought over Wareen because they knew of the hard work, dedication, and attention to detail that she put forth every day and on every task. In Wareen's leisurely time, she enjoyed crafting all sorts of items and occasionally sold those items out of her home with her sister by her side. Wareen also enjoyed sewing, flower gardening, helping mow the grass with Bill, and being outdoors. Sunflowers were a favorite along with the color yellow. Wareen was also known to bake delicious cakes and pies. She surrounded herself with family and friends.

Wareen is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Bill Shipley; children, Bill Crouch and his wife, Samantha Evans, Ben Crouch with his wife, Amanda Cavaletto, and Addy Shipley; 3 grandchildren, Reagan Crouch, Carter Crouch, and Willa Crouch; siblings, Alan (Jeanne) Richardson, Donnie (Teresa) Richardson, and Laura Green; brother-in-law, John Hayes; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Don Richardson; mother, Marilyn Harry; sister, Debbie Hayes; and brother, Mark Richardson.

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, with the service immediately following at 6:00 p.m., officiated by good friend and fellow colleague, Joey Johnson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.
