William Thomas Spacey May 8, 1924 - November 11, 2009
William Thomas Spacey age 85 years, a resident of Greenfield passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
He was born May 8, 1924 in Rush County, Indiana and is the son of the late Harley and Myrtle (Jones) Spacey.
He is a graduate of Ball State University where he received both his Bachelor and Masters degrees; he retired from Greenfield Central School Corporation after 35 years as a coach, a teacher and junior high school principal. He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenfield, Greenfield Elks Lodge #1720 and served as Greenfield Boys Club Director, a board member and was also a member of the Greenfield City Council. In 2004 he was elected to the Greenfield Central High School Athletic Hall of Fame and also has the William T. Spacey Distinguished Service Teacher Award presented in his honor.
Survivors include his wife Phyllis Pidge (Howard) Spacey whom he married on October 16, 1948 at First Christian Church in Wabash, In, son Robert H. (Danielle) Spacey of Hot Springs Village, AR, daughter Janeen Dee(Guy) Horn of Kings Mountain, NC, 4 sisters, Helen Wilson of Glenwood, IN, Judy Coers of Shelbyville, IN, Una Frazier of Greensboro, NC, Joretta Gottlieb, TN, 3 grandchildren, Brian D. (Nicole) Spacey, Amanda R. (Danny) Soto, Megan L. (Dave) Baker, 4 great grandchildren, Trystan, Madelyn, Amelia and Kayden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Eugene and Robert Spacey.
Memorial service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield with Pastor John Paulson officiating. Friends may call Saturday, November 14, 2009 from 2:00 until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
