William L Wickard

William L. Wickard May 12, 1922 - June 3, 2009 William L. Wickard, 87, a resident of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009 in Community Hospice at Community Hospital North. He was born May 12, 1922 in Hancock County to the late Almond E. and Flossie (Deer) Wickard. William was a 1940 graduate of Maxwell High School and worked as an electrician for Delco Remy for 37 years, retiring in 1987. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, was a member of the Greenfield Christian Church, Eden 477, F. &A.M., Scottish Rite, Eden 101, O.E.S., Greenfield American Legion Post 119, Greenfield Lions Club and loved woodworking. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alma (Martin) Wickard of Greenfield; son, Dee Allen (Jeanette) Wickard of Wilkinson; daughter, Sandra Kay (Garry) Sargent of Greenfield; three grandsons; one granddaughter; brother-in-law, Clayton (Lana) Martin of Pendleton; sister-in-law, Dottie Martin of New Castle; 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Marinda Dougherty and Dorotha Mae Cherry; grandson, Jeffrey Sargent. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, Greenfield. Burial will follow at Asbury Cemetery, Morristown. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, June 5, 2009 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Masonic services will begin at 7:00 p.m. provided by the Eden Masonic Lodge 477. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Greenfield Christian Church, 23 N.
