Memorializing a veteran is an honor and privilege for us here at Stillinger Family Funeral Home in Greenfield, Indiana. Of course, we appreciate the trust of all the families we serve; but we feel a special duty for remembering and commemorating the lives of veterans. Whether these veterans gave their lives on the battlefield or came home to live out their lives in service to their families and communities, they’ve made a sacrifice that can never truly be appreciated enough. And so we approach their military funeral honors and memorialization services with humility and reverence, taking great care to show our gratitude. Here are just a few of the ways we honor veterans:
Funeral Services for Veterans
At Stillinger Family Funeral Home, we work with surviving family members to plan and conduct services that truly respect and honor the life of the veteran. Because any passing is a difficult time, we provide compassionate guidance and direction to help the family take advantage of military honors and veterans services they might not have known about.
When memorializing a veteran, we can arrange for special military tributes and the involvement of veterans personnel that could include ceremonies such as the playing of Taps or the traditional folding of a United States flag and presentation to the family. Certain military personnel or veterans would be eligible for the involvement of rifle details or color guard, and we can make those necessary arrangements.
Of course, we pride ourselves on making each memorial service special and unique as a tribute to the life of the deceased. We will meet with the family and incorporate into the service those reminders of the special moments that helped define the veteran’s life beyond their service to our country. These can include photographic memory boards, video presentations, and special displays of personal and hobby items.
Commemorative and Honorary Items
At Stillinger Family Funeral Home, we offer many unique commemorative items that can be lasting tributes to the veteran being honored.
For example, the presented memorial flag can be kept by the family, showcased in a triangular flag display. And the casket can be adorned with a corner plaque that can be removed prior to burial and retained as a keepsake by the family. Likewise, we can arrange for commemorative medallions and angel box keepsakes. And our wide selection of beautiful and dignified caskets and cremation urns can provide a unique way to provide that lasting tribute.
When memorializing a veteran, we can also help families arrange for gravesite memorials and markers that honor the life and service of the veteran. And of course, we can discuss with each family the options available for other special commemorative items and funeral service tributes.
Each life is unique, and no one deserves more special recognition than our veterans. At Stillinger Family Funeral Home, we honor our veterans and we ARE honored to be entrusted to provide their final memorialization.
